Hair at the New York Fashion Week Autumn / Winter 2013
While the fat, frizzy curls from Marc Jacobs show or the hippie princess braids of Christian Siriano and Rodarte will always please the 6-year-old girl inside us all, Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2013 certainly favored a slightly more sleek or polished look.
The big hit was DKNY’s “Encapsulated hair,” brought to you by Wella creative director Eugene Souleiman. The silky, polished tresses and middle part paired perfectly with Donna’s classic style, which was certainly remembered at this year’s showing. The look is sleek, sophisticated, and works with virtually everything. Don’t believe me? Just ask other designed like Reed Krakoff or Theyskens’ Theory who were clearly inspired by the same hair notion. Then there was the similar look, but slightly more undone from Narciso Rodriguez.
The super sleek and slightly androgynous look is a mainstay at fashion week. Designers like Alexander Wang and Michael Kors were no exception with their ultra sleek and shiny pony tails. Donna Karan took the look a step further with her futuristic cone-shaped pony.
In spite of all the sheen, some designers still went for a more unkempt look. The textured waves of Derek Lams show was created by braiding large portions of the models’ hair and letting set for several hours to complete this 80s throwback crimped style. Altuzarra rocked a similar, but updated look (as in minus all the crimp).
The side part was huge at last years showing, and designers like Rag & Bone, Tory Burch, and Marchesa kept this look going strong into the next year.
For the ultimate in the unfussy look of FW13, tall hats and slouchy tuques are definitely in (a la BCBG Max Azria and Oscar de la Renta), but we still think your bare head is best!
New York Times: Face Time with Ivanka Trump
Ivanka Trump’s fragrance and body lotion, scented in a floral Oriental blend, are the newest additions to her self-named empire. In addition to playing creative director of her own collection, Ivanka also divides her time working for the Trump Organization, judging “The Apprentice,” and playing mom to her 18-month-old daughter Arabella alongside husband Jared Kushner. Here, she tells T about her inspirations, eco-friendly ways and beauty essentials.
Q.
What were some of your thoughts and inspirations behind the creation of your new fragrance called Ivanka Trump?
A.
I have always admired women that have a strong sense of self, complemented by femininity. I especially appreciate the presence of these women in traditionally male-dominated industries, such as real estate. You can never underestimate the power of a woman, whether she is leading a meeting in the boardroom or attending a post-work event. For my first fragrance, I wanted to capture the essence of a woman’s strength and beauty.
Has fragrance always been an integral part of your life?
I enjoy wearing fragrance every day and have found myself searching for the one signature scent that truly reflects my personality and the things I love, such as Bulgarian rose. I have always wanted to create a fragrance from its inception to fruition, and articulate femininity, confidence and fortitude.
Are there certain scents that always bring back lovely memories for you?
The rose scent is my favorite. Roses are classic, sophisticated, beautiful and appropriate for all seasons. Roses remind me of happy occasions throughout my life.
Your daughter’s middle name is Rose! Since pregnancy and giving birth to Arabella, has the use of natural and eco-friendly products been a higher priority?
In recent years, natural product companies have improved the efficacy of the formulations a great deal, as well as the scents. Natural and eco-friendly products are better than ever to use now. Cleaner and toxic-free products have always been a highlight in my regimen. The more natural or eco-based products you can introduce into your beauty regimen, the more beneficial it is for your skin. It’s similar to introducing organic food into your daily diet.
Can you name a few of your favorite hair care and skin care products you’ve been using lately?
I use all natural hair care products from Leonor Greyl and Yarok. For skin care I love Tammy Fender’s products, they are wonderful and effective.
Are there products you prefer for your daughter Arabella’s skin and hair?
I like Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Moisturizing Cream. I use organic diapers and body wash by the Honest Company.

ELLE Vietnam – Feb 2013
Hair by Arturo Swayze using Yarok Feed Your Roots for the newest editorial of ELLE Vietnam: Feb 2013.
“All hair isn’t created equal, I used Yarok Feed Your Roots Mousse to level-out the playing field…
The theme for the shoot was Spring makeup. The photographer and I decided that keeping the hair simple while exposing the face would be the best option.
I chose to make the hair identical with strong lines so what better way to do that but with matching bobs.
I hand made the wigs in preparation for the shoot with human hair. The day of, I added Yarok Mousse to give the hair texture and shine. I blew the hair out straight, sans some volume, and cut the wigs on the models, side by side so they would match perfectly.”

What Women Want
Not all women can agree on what hair style makes a man hot, but if a man plays to his strengths he will maximize his chances of attracting a woman. Whether his hair is short, long, messy, or polished the right hairstyle can really be the deciding factor in whether a man is hot or not.
When deciding on a hairstyle men should consider two things: Does the style work with his hair type? (eg. curly, straight, thick, thin) Does the style fit his personality?
When it comes down to it confidence makes a man hot, so men should always choose a style that they are comfortable wearing and makes them feel hot!
Take a look at these hair styles for men that all women can agree are HOT!
