Hair Hydration

The Importance of Hydration for Healthy Hair

When we talk about the importance of hydration for your hair, what you put on your body is equally as important as what you put in your body! Nobody likes dull, dry hair. Don’t worry… do you think we would let your hair suffer? Happy, healthy hair is only a few tips (and sips) away.

We’re here to spill all the secrets on your hydration needs.

Self-Hydration = Healthy Skin & Thriving Hair

If you thought you could pick up a bottle of Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner and call it a day (…and when you do, it best be Yarok’s Feed Your Hydration ;)…) think again! While using a hydrating hair formula is key, you must also consider the amount of fluid you’re consuming.

Your body requires sufficient daily water intake in order to function properly. After all, your body is roughly 60% water! (1) Without adequate water intake, you run the risk of dehydration. When you’re dehydrated, everything from your energy to your mood, digestion, skin, and hair is affected! For the sake of your friends and family... let's keep you hydrated, shall we?

So, how much water should you drink per day?

As a general rule of thumb, calculate your baseline level by diving half your body weight and drinking that in fluid oz per day. For example, if you’re 120 lbs., you would divide this number by 2. This means you should drink around 620 fluid oz. of water per day. Of course, this is a rough estimate. If you’re active or sweating, you will need to increase your water intake even more! The American College of Sports Medicine (2) recommends adding an extra 12 oz of water per day for every 30 minutes of exercise!

Tired of drinking water? Eat these hydrating foods instead!

Not only are fruits and veggies packed with vitamins and nutrients, but they have some of the highest concentrations of water! Yes, you can snack your way to healthy hair.

Now that you understand the importance of internal hydration for healthy skin and hair, let’s talk about external factors! Beautiful hair takes work.
