Here, Mordechai Alvow, an essential oils chef of sorts, has built a creative and calming environment for his top notch haircuts, organic hair coloring and exclusive YAROK sensory hair and scalp treatments.
This is not a hectic salon with a revolving door of stylists or rushed appointments. At YAROK Beauty Kitchen you have front row access to the magic that comes from blending century old ingredients with modern technology. Watch Mordechai as he custom blends your hair color in glass beakers or as he tailors an aromatic, essential oils treatment just for your particular hair needs.

Adding to the experience is a 10-minute cranial message, steam treatment and aromatherapy is a full sensory experience leaving you feeling beautiful, healthy and refreshed inside and out.

Therapy for Your Head—Schedule a personal hair and scalp consultation with YAROK Founder and celebrity hair stylist, Mordechai Alvow. Using his years of expertise, he will devise a service and/or product plan customized personally for you based on your lifestyle and needs. A credit card will be taken upon booking, but the $150 can then be used towards product or services.

Appointments begin with consultations based on daily styling rituals, current product use, in additon to hair pet peeves. From there, recommendations for hair shape and style is made (inspiration pictures welcome).

Organic Color System hair color is safer and healthier than the traditionally toxic alternatives, without sacrificing results. It is guaranteed to exceed your expectations and give you more lustrous hair without any brassiness, in additon to longer lasting results (4-8 weeks). This product line is made wit certified organic ingredients and its at least 88.7% natural. There is no ammonia, parabens, formaldehyde, plastics, SLS, or thioglycolates. A good blowout should look uncontrived and work with your facial structure. Our blow out doesn't use sticky styling products so your hair has natural movement versus being pin-straight or limp. With proper maintenance a blowout can last at least three days.

An "updo" can be very natural like a swept up messy chignon or slick and sophisticated for red carpet or weddings.

At the Yarok Beauty Kitchen we promise an intimate and personal experience. During your appointment you are our sole focus - we don't double-book or rush through your services. At the time of booking your appointment, you will be asked for a credit card to hold your reservation. Don't worry about forgetting your appointment because we will always call two business days prior to remind you.
Please understand that when you forget or cancel your appointment without giving enough notice, we miss the opportunity to fill that appointment time. Canceling less than 24 hours before your appointment will result in a charge equal to 50% of the reserved service amount.
Appointments made within the 24-hour period and need to cancel, the client then must cancel within 4 hours of appointment time or will result in a charge equal to 50% of the reserved service amount.
"NO SHOWS" will be charged 100% of the reserved service amount.
First time clients will be charged a $150 non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. If appointments are canceled, the deposit can be used towards Yarok products and services. Appointments can be rescheduled with no penalty as long as they are done so more than 24 hours prior to booking.
As a courtesy, we require a two-week cancellation notice. Cancellation not within the required time will result in a cancellation fee of 50% (fifty) of the total services.

Mordechai is an experienced editorial and celebrity hair stylist, in addition to being a green lifestyle expert and founder of YAROK Hair Care. His approach interprets cutting-edge fashion and trends into uniquely fresh and wearable hairstyles, both customized for each client’s style and lifestyle. His celebrity clients have included Melania Trump, Naomi Watts and Catherine Zeta Jones. His editorial work has graced the pages of VOGUE, Allure, ELLE, In Style, Marie Claire, New York Magazine and the Sport’s Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and the runways of Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, and Yohji Yamamoto, among others. He brings this breadth of experience and influence to his salon clients through his technical mastery of cut and color.
Hair Stylist
Alyona has always had a passion for earthly beauty. She began her work with hair at 14 years old at her home in Odessa, Ukraine. When she moved to New York City, she assisted in the city's top salons, being trained by leading experts in the industry.
Her calmness and peaceful energy lends itself to attentive, thorough, and thus exceptional salon service. Moreover she is deeply concerned with the environment, and eager to educate others on sustainable practices, which is why she fits in so well at Yarok. Working at Yarok provides Alyona with a platform that combines her vision for aesthetics and a healthy, organic lifestyle.
Aside from her accomplishments in the organic beauty industry, Alyona also holds a B.B.A. in Entrepreneurship and Management from Baruch College. Much of her free time is spent volunteering, and she dreams of one day organizing an organic garden that will benefit her local community
Hair Assistant
Mary is from Brooklyn-NY, where she grew up helping her father with his business (pizzeria), she loves animals and nature. At home, she takes care of Gil (a rescue puppy), an organic herb garden and a fig tree, which was there before she was born.
Mary has chosen to follow her own dreams, she has always loved the beauty industry, joining Yarok's team she is motivated to become a great Hairstylist.

Makeup
Ewa is a NYC-based freelance makeup artist who has experience in beauty, fashion, TV, film and commercial. She was born and raised in Poland, where she went to art school and gained an understanding of colors and textures, which lead to the discovery of a love for makeup. Since then, she has been making a name for herself as a professional with a very diverse set of skills and experience working for brands such as MTV, Comedy Central, Oxygen, Adidas, Macy's, among others.
Brand Associate
Before joining the Yarok team, Kriti was a law student, before realizing she wanted to develop a career of helping people more directly. She has proven to have a passion in this arena volunteering for the red cross and other non-profits, and positions with Habitat for Humanity and in the Environmental Club, while in school.
